Country Duck Tutorial
By Angie and Deebs - (thanks for your great idea!)
This tutorial uses vectors and yes, they can be fun!
You'll need PSP6 or 7, and my heart, twig and bow
(made by Deebs) tubes - you'll find
the zip here.
- Open new image 600 X 400 transparent. Add a new layer.
- Draw an elipse shape, as a vector, using a light
colour.
Click on the object selector button, choose node edit, and right click on
the bottom of your shape.
- Choose node type symetric, and then node type cusp.
- Now you can manipulate your elipse shape into the duck. Ctrl
and left click on the elipse in these positions, and use the arrows to mold
it into the ducks body.
- Once you have it into the shape you want, left click, and change
it to a raster layer. Next select all, and click on the centre of the
duck with the sel. tool to select it.
- Now flood fill with a darker colour, using wood as the texture.
Now you can paint in the beak and around thebody and tail with the
darker colour using the airbrush tool, set at low opacity. Paint in an eye.
- Now add a new layer, apply cutouts at 3. Another new layer,
cutouts at -3.Merge visible layers. You can move the duck to where
you'd like it to be in your image now.
- You can now add a bow, heart and twig tubes, if desired.
- Now add the wire, on a new layer, using the freehand draw tool,
black width of 2.. Move this layer to the bottom. You can add
a nail or tack here too.
- Merge visible. Apply a drop or perspective shadow (eye candy).
- Add a new layer, move this to the bottom of the stack. This
will be your background. Flood fill with colour or texture of your
choice. I used Fantastic Machines paint engine.
- Add border of 4, apply inner bevel or blade pro.
That's it! Hope you had fun :)
